Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. How do I open Settings?
Long-press anywhere on the screen for 0.6 seconds to open Settings. Alternatively, you can access Settings through the interface selector (bottom button) โ select an interface โ tap the gear icon in the top-right corner.
2. What is "Moscow Time"?
Moscow Time is a Bitcoin metric calculated as: 100,000,000 sats รท BTC Price in USD. It represents how many satoshis (sats) one US dollar can buy. When the price goes up, Moscow Time goes down - and vice versa.
Example: If BTC is $100,000, then Moscow Time = 1,000 sats/USD.
3. How do I enable StandBy mode?
StandBy mode is automatic on iPhone 15 Pro and newer running iOS 17+. Simply place your iPhone on a MagSafe or Qi wireless charger in landscape orientation. The App will automatically switch to the StandBy layout.
4. How often does data refresh?
By default, data refreshes every 15 seconds. You can adjust this in Settings (long-press โ Data โ Refresh Interval) from 10 to 60 seconds. Note: More frequent refresh may slightly impact battery life.
5. Why is my data not updating?
Please check the following:
- Ensure you have an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)
- Check the "Last Update" timestamp at the bottom of the screen
- If using Wi-Fi, try switching to cellular data
- Network issues may cause temporary delays - the App will automatically retry
6. How do I add widgets to my Home Screen?
- Long-press on an empty area of your Home Screen until apps jiggle
- Tap the + button in the top-left corner
- Search for "SatsClock" or scroll to find it
- Select the widget size you want
- Tap Add Widget
7. How do I customize my Watch face?
- Long-press your current Watch face
- Swipe all the way to the right and tap New
- Select a watch face that supports complications (modular, chronograph, etc.)
- Tap a complication slot and select SatsClock
8. What are the 7 different view modes?
Tap the bottom interface button to switch between:
- Dashboard: Overview of all Bitcoin metrics
- Price Detail: Price with 7-day trend chart
- Block Detail: Block height and cycle progress
- Halving Detail: Complete halving progress visualization
- Moscow Time: Dedicated Block Clock view
- Halving Countdown: Days and blocks until next halving
- Fee Rates: Network fee rate comparison
9. Can I disable visual effects to save battery?
Yes. Go to Settings (long-press) โ Display โ Performance Mode. This disables all text glow effects and background animations while keeping your chosen theme's colors and fonts.
10. Does the app work offline?
Yes, with limitations. The App will display the last cached data when offline. However, to get real-time updates, an internet connection is required. Widgets and Watch complications will also show cached data.
11. How is the halving date calculated?
The halving date is estimated based on:
- Current block height (fetched from mempool.space)
- Remaining blocks until next 210,000 block milestone
- Average 10-minute block time
This is an estimate. Actual halving time may vary based on network hashrate changes.
12. Why does the App require internet access?
The App needs internet access to fetch public blockchain data from:
- Mempool.space API: Block height, fee rates, halving progress
- Binance API: Current Bitcoin market price
All requests are anonymous and contain no personal information.
13. How do I enable Screen Keep-On?
Go to Settings (long-press) โ Display โ Keep Screen On. This prevents your iPhone from sleeping while the App is open. Useful for dedicated monitoring setups or StandBy mode.
14. What is the quote carousel feature?
The App displays rotating quotes from Bitcoin luminaries like Satoshi Nakamoto, Hal Finney, and others. You can disable this in Settings (long-press) โ Display โ Show Quotes.
Tips & Best Practices
- StandBy Mode: Use with a MagSafe charger for the best always-on display experience
- Low Power Mode: iOS automatically disables visual effects in Low Power Mode
- Widget Placement: Add multiple widgets for different metrics (price, block, Moscow Time)
- Watch Face: Use Modular or Infograph faces for best complication layout
- Performance: Disable effects on older iPhone models for smoother performance

No accounts or registration required
- โ
No user tracking or analytics

Known Limitations
- Apple Watch: Watch app requires iPhone companion app running at least once to sync data via App Groups
- Background Updates: Widgets update on iOS schedule (typically every 15-30 minutes), not instantaneously
- Price Data: Price is displayed in USD only (multi-currency support planned for future)
Troubleshooting
Widgets Not Updating
Widgets update on iOS's schedule, not continuously. To force a widget update:
- Open the main SatsClock app (this fetches fresh data)
- Wait 15-30 seconds for iOS to update widgets
- You can also long-press the widget and tap "Refresh Widget"
Watch App Shows "No Data"
If your Apple Watch app shows no data:
- Ensure your iPhone is nearby and Bluetooth is enabled
- Open SatsClock on your iPhone to refresh data
- The Watch app should sync within 1-2 minutes
- If issues persist, unpair and re-pair the Watch app
App Crashes on Launch
If the App crashes:
- Ensure you're running iOS 17.0 or later
- Delete and reinstall the App from App Store (you won't lose any data as we don't store user data)
- Restart your iPhone
