FAQ

Why does ID Age Scanner need camera access?

The camera is used only to scan the PDF417 barcode on the back of an ID. ID Age Scanner does not need Photos, Location, Microphone, NFC, Contacts, or an account.

Does ID Age Scanner identify fake IDs?

No. ID Age Scanner assists age screening by reading supported barcode data, checking the configured age rule, checking expiration, and flagging missing or unusual fields for manual review.

Is my data uploaded to a server?

No in the current release. Scanning, parsing, decisions, local history, and statistics are processed on this device.

What data is saved in history?

ID Age Scanner saves minimal local summaries such as result, scan time, age or age rule summary, expiration status, issuing jurisdiction, and review reasons. Raw barcode data, full name, address, and license number are not saved.

How do I delete local records?

Use the history or settings data controls to delete individual records or clear local history.

Can I change the age rule?

Yes. The default rule is 21+. You can configure comparison rules such as less than, greater than, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, and range-based rules.

Why did a scan show REVIEW?

REVIEW means idscan could not make a clear automatic decision, for example because fields were missing, a date was invalid, or the barcode format was not fully supported.
